DESCRIPTION:Spring 2023 FieldSTEM Introduction Series\nThursday February 9\, to Thursday May 25\, 2023\, 4 PM to 6 PM \nCost: Free \nAttention Washington State K-12 Educators!\nJoin us for our Spring FieldSTEM Introduction Workshops!  \nYou are invited to participate in the following FieldSTEM opportunities to support implementation in your school or district. We are offering the online professional learning opportunities below to introduce you to FieldSTEM or broaden your understanding and to inspire you to engage your colleagues. You may attend any combination of workshops that interest you. \nParticipants will receive 2 Washington State approved STEM clock hours for each workshop attended. Please review the brief workshop descriptions below and select those workshops you wish to attend. \nIntroduction to Designing High Impact Field Experiences for K-12\n\nThursday\, February 9\, 4 PM to 6 PM  \n\n\nJoin PEI for an introduction to our FieldSTEM Integrated Learning Model focusing on the use of FieldSTEM in designing high quality\, impactful field experiences for your students. Learn how schools and districts are implementing FieldSTEM and consider the value of this model as part of your program and instructional practices. \nIntroduction to Math Performance Tasks for K-12\n\nThursday\, March 2\, 4 PM to 6 PM  \n\n\nExplore PEI’s Math Performance Task topics\, which engage students in math practices with relevant\, scenario-based\, career connected challenges. \nIntroduction to ELA Performance Tasks for K-12\nWednesday\, March 8\, 4 PM to 6 PM   \n\nExperience how ELA performance tasks can be used to teach both science and literacy standards. Explore PEI’s collection of performance tasks as you determine which will fit best into your program and instruction. \nIntroduction to FieldSTEM for Dual Language K-12 Educators\nThursday\, March 9\, 4 PM to 6 PM \nAn introduction to our FieldSTEM Integrated Learning Model and its value. You will learn how PEI can support a systemic and sustainable implementation of this model by sharing resources and professional learning opportunities in Spanish. \nIntroduction to Fostering Outdoor Observations Skills with Science Notebooks for K-12\nWednesday\, April 19\, 4 PM to 6 PM  \n\nJoin PEI to learn strategies for helping students develop outdoor observation skills using multiple senses. Explore simple activities to incorporate more of the outdoors into your lessons\, focusing on the use of science notebooks as a powerful science literacy tool. \nIntroduction to Field Investigations for K-12\nThursday\, April 20\, 4 PM to 6 PM \nField investigations can be done just about anywhere and integrated into any content area\, and they add depth to your students’ learning by incorporating personal relevance to what they’re experiencing in class.  Join us for this two-hour session for an overview of the three types of investigative questions\, how to build field investigations from student questions\, and how to wrap up the investigation with C-E-R. In addition to the free materials on PEI’s website\, participants will receive a list of topic-based ideas for field investigations that can be conducted on campus.  \nIntroduction to FieldSTEM and Civic Engagement for K-12\nThursday\, April 27\, 4 PM to 6 PM \nJoin us for an Introduction to FieldSTEM and Civic Engagement! Explore strategies\, tools\, and platforms to elevate student voice and support youth who want to take action in their communities.  \nIntroduction to FieldDesign for K-12\nThursday\, May 25\, 4 PM to 6 PM  \nJoin PEI for an introduction to FieldDesign – a field-based engineering design framework that develops students’ ability to think critically and problem-solve through hands-on\, locally relevant activities.  \nClick below to register for any or all of these Introduction workshops!\nRegister Here!
