SUMMARY:Fire Journaling
DESCRIPTION:Journaling the Fire Environment\n(private event for Methow Valley School District only) \nAttention Organizational & Formal Educators for children K-12 in and near the Methow Valley! \nJoin Fire-Adapted Methow Valley and their partners for a two-session professional learning opportunity\, Journaling the Fire Environment. In this workshop\, participants will gain an understanding of the elements and phenomena that influence fire behavior and how to observe\, record\, and interpret that information.  These skills will serve to empower educators and students alike\, building resilience to past wildfire trauma and a greater sense of self-efficacy in this era of wildfires. \nThis will be a blended learning experience: \n\nteachers and educators from the Methow Valley will meet in-person*\nteachers\, educators and presenters from outside the region will join the group via Zoom (details will be sent out via email from the workshop facilitator prior to the workshop)\n\nMost of the workshop will occur indoors*\, but there will be a significant outdoor portion during our second session. \nParticipants who attend both sessions will receive: \n\na packet of materials relating to the topics covered\nnature journaling supplies (in person) or a supply list (Zoom participants)\n5 Washington State approved STEM clock hours\n\n*PEI will be following these COVID-19 guidelines: Everyone is expected to wear masks and practice social distancing when indoors. In situations where social distancing is not possible during outdoor sessions\, masks are highly encouraged. If the venue or facility has stricter policies\, PEI will abide by those policies. Please do not attend if you currently have symptoms or have had recent exposure to someone that is suspected of or tested positive for a COVID infection. Participants attend at their own risk.
