SUMMARY:Salmon Outside (Central)
DESCRIPTION:Salmon Outside! Taking Student Learning Outdoors via the Web\nAttention Formal and Nonformal Educators in Central Washington!* \nJoin Tiffany Bishop from the Yakima Basin Environmental Education Program and Emily Smith from the Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group in this immersive online experience. \nLearn more about salmon\, the connection between our watershed and the Pacific Ocean\, and how these resources are impacted by a changing climate. The sponsors and participants will work together to craft accessible and meaningful field-based experiences in a distance learning environment. Gain skills and confidence to help students get the most out of home-based and field-based learning\, and build interdisciplinary learning opportunities affectionately known as “meaningful watershed education experiences” (MWEE’s). \nThe four online workshops in this series are: \n\nAugust 4 | Adapt a MWEE: Making the most of the “New Normal” in education systems\nAugust 6 | Salmon In and Out of the Classroom: Ideas for sparking salmon learning away from the tank\nAugust 11 | Community Huddle: Collectively\, we can bring meaningful watershed experiences to all students\nAugust 13 | Walking in With a MWEE: Sponsors will help you walk away with a fully-formed field experience to use with students this year\n\nParticipants may attend one\, some or all the online workshops. \nEligible workshop participants can earn 6 Washington State approved STEM clock hours! \n*Please Note: this workshop is geared toward educators within the Columbia River and Yakima watersheds (Central Washington Region).
