SUMMARY:SOLS: Forests
DESCRIPTION:Solutions Oriented Learning Storylines: Forest Ecosystem Benefits – Carbon Sequestration\n(registration available for educators in ESD 105 or ESD 171) \nJoin the Pacific Education Institute (PEI) and our ClimeTime partners to take a deep dive into the role of Washington’s forests in climate change resiliency. Participants will learn about the solutions-oriented learning storyline format\, which includes: centering Indigenous perspectives\, local anchoring phenomena\, culturally responsive practices tied to Since Time Immemorial\, NGSS three-dimensional formative assessment\, and a solutions-oriented approach to drawing down greenhouse gases with opportunities to elevate student voices in their communities. \nThis workshop is part of a series of activities that includes:  \n\n(2) two-hour synchronous virtual sessions\ntwo-hours of asynchronous work\n\nParticipants who attend both sessions and complete all asynchronous work will receive: \n\nA $200 participation stipend\n6 Washington State approved STEM clock hours\n\nPlease Note: This workshop is for classroom teachers actively teaching grades K-12 in the fall of 2021 in the ESD 105 and ESD 171 regions.
