Discover a new curriculum\, video interviews and a new documentary\, all intended to support your efforts to introduce your students to the tribal perspectives on the existential challenge of climate change and related environmental and historical issues. \n \nThis workshop will introduce you to tribal culture\, natural resource management and concerns/responses to climate change\, as presented in the new curriculum\, “Tribes and Climate Change.” There is no charge for this workshop. Lodging will be provided at the Tulalip Hotel the night of August 5. Some meals will be provided. Some limited funds may be available for those who require mileage reimbursement.  \n \n  \nRegistration for this event is closed due to limited capacity. Please check our calendar for other events.

Join this two day\, overnight workshop series by Pacific Education Institute\, the Department of Natural Resources\, and the Skagit Conservation District to learn about the dynamics of community forestry in our region and how to implement forest education in your classroom! DESCRIPTION:Explore the Salish Sea Curriculum\nSaturday\, January 14 2023 | 4 PM to 6 PM\n  \nAttention All Washington State Formal K-12 Educators\nPrepare your students to dive into place-based\, hands-on learning with the Explore the Salish Sea Curriculum! \n*Learn how to navigate and customize this resource to meet your learning goals \n*Experience the wonder of engineering to investigate a real-world problem in a sample lesson \n*Expand your NGSS understanding \n*Meet community partners who can support your students’ authentic research project \n*Lesson planning time will be provided \n  \nSample Unit: Ocean Tech \nExperience the process of engineering to design and build a remotely operated vehicle (R.O.V.)! The moon is more explored than the ocean\, and that includes the Salish Sea. Where it is inconvenient or even impossible for people to go\, we can engineer technology to go there for us\, like the Mars Rovers\, space probes\, automatic unmanned vehicles\, drones\, and in this unit\, ROV’s. Ocean Tech dives into the engineering process\, empowering kids to figure out the laws of motion and become a team of physical\, mechanical\, and electrical engineers working together to achieve a student-driven mission. \nParticipants who attend the whole session will receive: 6 Washington State approved STEM Clock Hours\n  \nThis is an IN-PERSON workshop\, held in Anacortes.
