The Mid-Columbia Fisheries Enhancement Group (MCFEG) and Pacific Education Institute (PEI) are very excited to offer a Deep Dive into Salmon Education for secondary (8th-12th grade) science and CTE teachers in the Yakima region.  \nThis FREE 2.5 day adventure will include guest speakers\, salmon tank tutorials\, tours\, and resources you can use in your classroom. DESCRIPTION:Solutions Oriented Learning Storyline: Regenerative Agriculture Writing Workshop (Western WA)\n(By invitation only) \nPEI is looking for a small team of educators with expertise in writing and a willingness to strengthen their understanding and skills in curriculum development\, climate science solutions\, instructional best practices; including formative assessment\, teacher professional development\, Tribal\, rural\, bilingual and migrant education. The project will be rooted in rigorous science education while linking to local questions\, problems\, issues and opportunities to engage students that historically have been underserved in science. \nThree-dimensional storylines with anchoring phenomena\, formative assessments and 7E (engage\, explore\, ecosystem\, elders\, explain -students explain not sages on stages -expand\, and evaluate) activities that build towards performance expectations to ensure 3-dimensional NGSS instruction is taught\, with assessments/rubrics to help teachers determine student growth. The storylines will build student understanding and problem solving around local environmental challenges related to food and food sovereignty\, land use and management\, agriculture\, aquaculture\, forestry\, land management and renewable energy. \nOur project intends to provide educators with classroom instructional tools and professional development to effectively teach climate science through storylines.
