PWI SEARCH Pilot
June 27, 2017 @ 9:00 am - June 29, 2017 @ 4:00 pm
FreeThe Puyallup Watershed Initiative (PWI) – Environmental Education Community of Interest (EECOI) has established a partnership with watershed school districts to participate in the SEARCH (Sustainable Education and Applied Research through Collaboration with Higher-Ed) Project. This project engages secondary students in STEM through involvement in authentic research and inquiry. Students will collect science data for one of four higher education research endeavors.
The School District commitment involves forming a teacher design team consisting of 2-5 teachers from the same grade band who will help us create science research units over the summer, and pilot run during the 2017-2018 school year. The PWI-EECOI commitment includes facilitating two workshops for the design team (June 27-29, 2017 and 1-day in August 2017) and offering continued support and mentoring throughout the 2017-2018 school year.
This 3-Day Unit Design Workshop includes 18 STEM clock hours, teacher honorarium, Pacific Education Institute field guides, meals and snacks.
