Solutions Oriented Learning Storylines: Wildfires in (Western) Washington

Join the Pacific Education Institute (PEI) and our ClimeTime partners to take a deep dive into the role of wildfires in Washington’s historic and current landscape, focusing on the Western WA region. Participants will learn about the solutions-oriented learning storyline format, which includes: local anchoring phenomena, culturally responsive practices tied to Since Time Immemorial, NGSS three-dimensional student growth measures, and a solutions-oriented approach to drawing down greenhouse gases with opportunities to elevate student voices in their communities.
This workshop is part of a series of activities that includes: three online learning sessions, self-paced learning opportunities and a format to give feedback on the storylines.
Dates, times and specifics of the online workshop:
- Day 1: Monday, May 18 – 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
- Day 2: Wednesday, May 20 – 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
- Day 3: Friday, May 22 – 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
This workshop is for classroom teachers teaching grades K-12 in WA public schools. Participants who attend all three online workshops and complete all associated work* will receive:
- A $150 participation stipend
- 12 STEM Washington State approved Clock Hours
