FreeEngaging Communities in Forestry Education
Calling all 6th-12th grade educators!
Forests are an integral part of our lives in the Pacific Northwest. Join this two day, overnight workshop series by Pacific Education Institute, the Department of Natural Resources, and the Skagit Conservation District to learn about the dynamics of community forestry in our region and how to implement forest education in your classroom! This free workshop includes:14.5 STEM clock hours available, a Project Learning Tree educator guide, delicious meals and overnight lodging at Glacier Peak Resort cabins (some camping sites available). Participants must attend the entire training to receive clock hours.
You’ll learn how to…
*implement forestry education, including outdoor experiences, with a deeper understanding of forest resource science and management;
*engage your students in critical thinking about stakeholder perspectives in community decision-making about forests; and
*provide students opportunities to explore career pathways in the forestry sector.
