FieldSTEM Educator Team Institute – Sedro Woolley

In this two-day workshop series, participants will engage in deepening their understanding of the 3 Dimensions of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and examine how the NGSS support outdoor learning experiences. Participants will collaborate to design a mini-unit using the Project-Based Learning Model from Pacific Education Institute. Participants will receive multiple tools and resources and walk away with a draft unit to teach in the 17-18 school year.
Session Goals:
- Experience PEI’s Project-Based Learning Model which provides an intentional instructional framework for supporting and engaging students in solving problems through the Engineering Design Process
- Deepen understanding of the 3 Dimensions of NGSS and how outdoor learning is foundational in supporting learning of the 3 Dimensions
- Have collaborative and mentored time for planning to use PEI’s Project-Based Learning Model for developing a Mini-Unit of 3D instruction for students
