FieldSTEM Institute – Eastern Washington

Join Pacific Education Institute’s Pat Otto and Nancy Skerritt for a two-day Institute designed to assist teachers in navigating the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and ELA Common Core Standards by exploring NGSS Science and Engineering Practices and ELA performance assessments using the outdoors as the classroom. This Institute is for formal K-12 educators.

Participants will:

• Build their NGSS and ELA Common Core knowledge
•  Gain experience integrating NGSS with ELA standards
•  Participate in outdoor field investigations using NGSS 3-dimensional instruction
• Engage in performance tasks that introduce the science of natural resources, agriculture, and the environment
• Receive resources to customize performance tasks and field investigations for planning a FieldSTEM unit
• Learn strategies for integrating career awareness
• Receive 12 Washington State Approved STEM Clock Hours—at no cost!

*Eligible educators have the opportunity to earn a $150 stipend* (Details provided at workshop—registration is required)
