FieldSTEM: Math Performance Tasks

Attention Washington state K-12 Formal Educators!

During the course of this virtual workshop, participants will experience PEI Math Performance Task topics that engage students with relevant, scenario-based, career connected challenges. These tasks aim to broaden outdoor life experiences and deepen connection to scientific thinking through the lens of mathematics.

These brand new PEI Math Performance Tasks follow the Smarter Balanced performance task sequence, and are designed to be implemented in classroom settings to provide students the opportunity to explore real-world, Washington State examples.

PEI Math Performance Tasks reinforce student understanding through observation and application of mathematical skills for problem solving, and embed NGSS in Common Core Math practices supported by various sources and potential field investigations.

Participants completing the three-hour virtual workshop will:

• receive 3 Washington State approved STEM clock hours
• learn about the potential to earn a $75 implementation stipend
