Engaging Communities in Forest Education (K-12)

Attention Formal K-12 Educators in Pacific and Grays Harbor counties!*

Join Pacific Education Institute (PEI) and our Sustainable Forestry Initiative partners for this two-day educator workshop focused on forest education. As part of this in-person* professional learning experience, participants will explore key elements related to forest ecology and management.

Participants will experience Washington state forests firsthand, learning from small forest landowners and forging new community partnerships to help nurture inclusive and locally relevant instructional practices. Collaboration and planning time with grade band colleagues will be an integral part of this experience to directly support the design of meaningful field-based education for K-12 students.

Participants who attend both days will receive:

  • 12 Washington state approved STEM clock hours
  • $150 Participation Stipend
  • Grade K-8 educators: Project Learning Tree’s Explore Your Environment: K-8 Activity Guide
  • Grade 9-12 educators: Project Learning Tree secondary resources

*Registration for this workshop is only open to Formal K-12 Educators in Pacific and Grays Harbor counties. Educators who register from other school districts may have their registration cancelled. The workshop will take place in Raymond, WA. Further details about the location will be sent after you register.
