Please note that funding for the GHMRC Summer FieldSTEM Institute comes from the Grays Harbor and Pacific County MRCs, and is limited to elementary school teachers (grades 4-6) from those counties.
Grays Harbor MRC (GHMRC) and the Pacific Education Institute (PEI) are excited to announce the GHMRC Summer FieldSTEM Institute. Join us at Grays Harbor College for a three-day immersion in the Ocean Literacy Principle 6, “The Ocean and Humans Are Inextricably Interconnected.”
Using PEI’s Field Investigations and Designing High Impact Field Experiences guides as a framework, participants will experience a combination of classroom learning and field experiences while they explore and investigate the concepts of ocean acidification and harmful algal blooms. Field experiences will be “feet in the mud” and “hands-on,” so you will need to bring your waterproof boots and weather-appropriate clothing.
The Institute will wrap up with a panel discussion and networking session with community members working in local natural resources, agriculture and other outdoor/environmental fields.
These panelists will:
Formal Educators can earn 18 Washington State Approved STEM Clock Hours – at no cost!
Teachers who meet the criteria are eligible to earn a $200 Implementation Stipend through their MRC —details provided at the workshop.
For elementary school teachers (grades 4-6) from Grays Harbor County or Pacific County. Register here!
