Solutions Oriented Learning Storylines

for Nonformal Educators

Attention Nonformal Educators!

Nonformal educators like you provide valuable educational experiences to the public. You provide learning opportunities for students which are place-based, and offer real-world science, technology, engineering and math experiences.

During this 3-hour online workshop, the Pacific Education Institute’s South Sound FieldSTEM Coordinator, Hattie Osborne, will be connecting you with PEI’s Solutions Oriented Learning Storylines around the topics of forest carbon sequestration, food waste, erosion, regenerative agriculture and wildfire. PEI’s storylines are grounded in native ways of knowing, Next Generation Science Standards, place-based, carbon drawdowns and elevating student voice.

After becoming familiar with the storylines you will have an opportunity to connect your knowledge, experience and assets with our resources and help us make them more locally relevant and connected to outdoor, educational experiences. You will leave this workshop with access to the storylines and connections to what is happening within our local school communities. Together, we will create better resources for students to develop a sense of place – connection to their community and the environment – and foster a love of science!

Note: Priority registration given to nonformal educators in the South Sound area.
