Connecting Students to Forest Management Careers

(by invitation only)

Join PEI’s FieldSTEM Coordinator, Mike Nepean, PEI Executive Director, Kathryn Kurtz, Ben Price from the Muckleshoot Tribal School, and Chris Stone from Kalama School District for this exciting 3-hour online opportunity introducing a new model of connecting secondary students to forest management career  pathways. This online workshop is geared toward CTE and Science educators of grades 9 through 12.

The first hour of the workshop will be an online introductory session to the CTE framework for Forest Management, created in partnership with local Washington educators and professionals in the forest management industry, as well as Grays Harbor College and Pac Mountain Workforce Development Council. This new CTE framework was recently approved for science equivalency by OSPI.

Following the introductory session, PEI welcomes a panel of forest management industry professionals to share information on their roles and career pathways and engage in a discussion with educators about student worksite visits, mentorships and internships.

PEI will provide:

  • 3 Washington state approved STEM clock hours
  • $100 participation stipend
