Project WILD for Central Washington K-5 Educators
Attention Central Washington K-5 Educators!
Elk, coyote, and climate change – oh my! Get WILD about learning! Join us in discovering how to teach K-5 students about wildlife and conservation using hands-on, interdisciplinary lessons from Project WILD with special guests from the I-90 Wildlife Crossing project. Lesson plans have been aligned with national and state learning standards. Throughout the workshop, educators will have a chance to model lessons and to learn about local education resources. Upon workshop completion, all educators will receive the Project WILD guide.
This workshop is in two parts:
- Wednesday, April 13, 4 PM to 6 PM: an online content delivery session
- Saturday, April 16, 9 AM to 1 PM: an in-person* field experience and tour of the I-90 Wildlife Crossing
Participants who attend both sessions will receive:
- 6 Washington state approved STEM clock hours
- Project WILD guide
*The in-person workshop will take place on Washington State lands. The trails are unimproved, non-ADA trails that include uneven ground, mud, steep terrain, and weather-related hazards. We will meet at a location to be determined by our guest speaker to go to the I-90 Wildlife crossing. Further details will be communicated by the workshop facilitator prior to the workshop.
PEI will be following these COVID-19 guidelines: In order to attend this workshop, you must either be fully vaccinated or you must have an approved accommodation. Because we are visiting WA state lands there is a requirement to verify vaccination status. You will be asked to provide proof of your status below. If you are neither vaccinated, nor have approved accommodations, you will be unable to register for this workshop. Everyone who registers is expected to wear masks and practice social distancing when indoors. In situations where social distancing is not possible during outdoor sessions, masks are highly encouraged. If the venue or facility has stricter policies, PEI will abide by those policies. Please do not attend if you currently have symptoms or have had recent exposure to someone that is suspected of or tested positive for a COVID infection. Participants attend at their own risk.
