Solutions Oriented Learning Storylines: Wetlands

Join Pacific Education Institute (PEI) and our ClimeTime partners to take a deep dive into wetlands, focusing on the South Sound region. Participants will learn about the Solutions Oriented Learning Storyline format, which includes: centering tribal perspectives, local anchoring phenomena, culturally responsive practices, NGSS three-dimensional student growth measures, and a solutions-oriented approach to drawing down greenhouse gases with opportunities to elevate student voices in their communities.
This hybrid workshop is part of a series of activities that includes two online Zoom sessions, one in-person meeting and two asynchronous assignments. With one of these sessions meeting in-person outside at Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge, we will be following strict Covid-19 protocol including social distancing, all participants wearing a mask and the use of sanitizer.
Dates, times, and specifics of the hybrid workshop:
- May 5, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Zoom
- May 8, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge
- May 13, 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Zoom
Participants who attend all three sessions and complete the asynchronous assignments will receive:
- An $80 participation stipend
- 8 Washington State approved STEM Clock Hours
Please note: this workshop is for classroom teachers teaching grades K-12 in Washington public schools.
