Solutions Oriented Learning Storylines: Wildfires (Eastern WA)

(workshop FULL-waitlist available)

Attention all K-12 Formal Educators in Eastern WA!

Join the Pacific Education Institute (PEI) and our ClimeTime partners for a deep dive into the role of wildfires in Washington’s historic and current landscape, focusing on the Eastern WA region. Participants will learn about the solutions-oriented learning storyline format, which includes: local anchoring phenomena, culturally responsive practices tied to Since Time Immemorial, NGSS three-dimensional student growth measures, and a solutions-oriented approach to drawing down greenhouse gases with opportunities to elevate student voices in their communities.

This workshop is part of a series of activities that includes: three online learning sessions (6 hours), self-paced learning opportunities (estimated 3 hours) and a format to give feedback on the storylines. Presenters will share experience in the field, career paths, and wildfire respect and awareness that is becoming more important in the Pacific Northwest.

Synchronous sessions delivered via Zoom: December 7, 8, & 10, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM each day

Participants who attend all three online sessions and complete all associated work on Google Classroom* will receive:

  • An $80 participation stipend
  • 9 STEM Washington State Approved Clock Hours

*To access part of this workshop, you will need to have or open a Google account (not associated with your school district).
