Solutions Oriented Learning Storylines Writing Workshop — Olympia

INVITE ONLY

The Pacific Education Institute (PEI) will convene a team of experienced educators to develop solutions-oriented climate science curriculum. It will benefit from their expertise in instructional best practices — including formative assessment —  as well as knowledge of teacher professional development, Tribal, rural, bilingual and migrant education. This workshop will be rooted in rigorous science education while linking to local questions, problems, issues and opportunities that will more easily engage students that historically have been underserved. Participants will learn about the solutions-oriented learning storyline format, which includes: local anchoring phenomena, culturally responsive practices tied to Since Time Immemorial and three-dimensional NGSS standards.

  • PEI will reimburse travel mileage.
  • Substitute reimbursement will be available, and participants will receive a $300 stipend for attending all 3 days.
  • Additional funds will be available for participants who return in the spring of 2020 to help facilitate workshops, or — in the 20-21 school year — speak from your perspective as a classroom teacher.
