Solutions Oriented Learning Storylines: Regenerative Agriculture

(by invitation only through ESD123)

Attention 6-12 Formal Educators in the ESD 123 Region!

Is it possible to teach climate science in a way that is locally relevant, solutions-oriented, connected to Indigenous science, and connected to careers? Who have been, are, and will be the local land stewards in my region? What are best practices to draw down carbon from the atmosphere while simultaneously producing food industrially? How will the Regenerative Agriculture Climate Solution Storyline look in my classroom? These questions will be answered in a 6 hour course called Regenerative Agriculture Solutions-Oriented Learning Storyline for ESD 123.

The Pacific Education Institute (PEI) in partnership with ESD 123 will guide participants in exploring the role of the regenerative agriculture in Washington’s key industry and its contribution to climate resiliency. Participants will engage with the solutions-oriented learning storyline format, which includes: local anchoring phenomena, culturally responsive practices, and NGSS three-dimensional formative assessment. MS, and HS grade levels are encouraged to attend.

Synchronous Sessions:

  • Wednesday, March 3, 2021, 4 PM to 5:30 PM
  • Wednesday, March 10, 2021, 4 PM to 5:30 PM

Participants who attend both sessions and complete all assigned work will receive:

  • 6 Washington State Approved STEM clock hours
  • $100 Participation Stipend (generously provided by ESD 123)

Please note: you must be a Washington state formal educator of grades 6-12 in the ESD 123 region to attend.
