Eastern Washington: FieldSTEM Teacher Leader Institute

Join Katie Owens, PEI Facilitator, and Mike Nepean, PEI Eastern WA FieldSTEM Coordinator, for a two-day FieldSTEM Teacher Leader Institute designed to initiate the implementation of FieldSTEM while addressing the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), Common Core State Standards and Environmental Sustainability Standards.
This workshop is intended for formal K-12 teacher leaders from invited districts.
Participants will:
- Experience the FieldSTEM model which includes:
- Performance tasks and FieldSTEM notebooks, using science content, to improve ELA and STEM achievement
- Authentic, locally relevant field investigations
- Develop high-impact field experiences, including:
- Pre- and post-lessons to enrich student learning
- Identifying community collaborators
- Receive mentored planning time with examples of districts have implemented FieldSTEM across grade levels
- Assess your current FieldSTEM implementation and create an action plan
- Receive:
- 12 Washington State Approved STEM Clock Hours—at no cost!
- Three PEI Guides
- Post-workshop support from your PEI regional FieldSTEM Coordinator
Participants are eligible to earn a $150 stipend — details provided at the workshop.
