FieldDesign: Engineering design for field-based applications K-12
Attention WA State Formal K-12 Educators!
How do you engage students in authentic, relevant engineering design projects? Join Pacific Education Institute FieldSTEM Coordinators in an online, multi-day workshop to help you scaffold these real-world challenges for your students. Participants will use PEI’s FieldDesign Guide to brainstorm engineering problems and prepare to support students through every step of the design sequence.
The workshop will be a blended experience including two online Zoom sessions and self-paced learning:
- Synchronous Session 1: Overview of the FieldDesign process, Tuesday, January 11, 2022, 4pm-6pm (2 hours)
- Asynchronous Task: Practice identifying problems and brainstorming solutions (Approximately 2 hours – detailed instructions will be provided on January 11)
- Synchronous Session 2: Exploration of local partnerships and collaborative planning, led by your PEI FieldSTEM Coordinator, Tuesday, January 25, 2022, 4 pm-6pm (2 hours)
Participants who attend both sessions and complete all associated work will receive 6 Washington state approved STEM clock hours.
Note: There will be an opportunity to earn a $100 implementation stipend. Details will be provided at the workshop.
