Lower Columbia – FieldSTEM Teacher Leader Institute

Join Karen Lippy, PEI Faculty, Chad Mullen Lower Columbia FieldSTEM Coordinator & Julie Tennis, Coastal Region FieldSTEM Coordinator, for a two-day FieldSTEM Teacher Leader Institute designed to initiate the implementation of FieldSTEM while addressing the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), Common Core State Standards & Environmental Sustainability Standards. This workshop is intended for formal K-12 teacher leaders from invited districts.
Participants will:
- Experience the FieldSTEM model which includes:
– Performance tasks and FieldSTEM notebooks, using science content, to improve ELA and STEM achievement
– Authentic, locally relevant field investigations
- Develop high-impact field experiences, including:
– Pre- and post-lessons to enrich student learning
– Identifying community collaborators
- Receive mentored planning time with examples of how districts have implemented FieldSTEM across grade levels
- Assess your current FieldSTEM implementation and create an action plan
- Receive:
– 12 Washington State Approved STEM Clock Hours—at no cost!
– Three PEI Guides
– Post-workshop support from your PEI regional FieldSTEM Coordinator
Participants are eligible to earn a $150 stipend — details provided at the workshop.
